Toscano to Seek Re-Election in 2007 (May 4, 2007)

CHARLOTTESVILLE – David J. Toscano (D-Charlottesville) today announced his intention to seek reelection to the 57th District seat in the Virginia House of Delegates. First elected in 2005, Toscano represents all of the City of Charlottesville and a portion of Albemarle County, including much of the urban ring extending east to Pantops and west to Ivy.

Toscano, a Democrat, said he has been honored to serve this district and if elected will continue to emphasize issues important to his district, including

• improving education at all levels, from pre-K through University
• expanding economic opportunity to the broadest cross-section of Virginians
• enhancing our air and water quality, and protecting our environment for future generations
• fiscal responsibility and accountability in government

Toscano, the former Mayor of Charlottesville, has passed a number of initiatives in his first term, including bills to

• increase affordable housing options
• improve transportation on Route 29
• encourage city-county cooperation in planning for future development
• encourage use of renewable energy resources
